IMPACT: NEBRASKA ARTISTS
IMPACT, a non-profit Nebraska visual arts organization, was founded in 1985 - Its mission to educate through outreach programs and exhibitions. From inception, IMPACT has been recognized for professionalism and a high level of creative expression.
Each of the artist members has been juried in by an eminent museum director or academic figure. The requirement is that they are “nationally recognized in their respective artistic discipline.” Members do all the work themselves: contacting museums and booking shows, producing publicity materials, building crates, transporting work to far-flung venues. Many small towns with an arts center or a gallery have had the benefit of a sophisticated, professional exhibition in their backyard. Impact artists work in a variety of media—Oil, Watercolors, Acrylic, Mixed Media, Pastels, Photography, Batik, Clay, Metal, and Swedish knot embroidery.
The first Impact show traveled widely throughout the country, and Impact published a book of their works, which won several awards. Today Impact offers separate thematic shows— Kooser Impact (art inspired by Ted Kooser’s poems,) Postcards from the Plains (small works,) All Things Botanical (landscapes and flowers,) Impact Best (artists’ signature works) Skyscape ((interpretations of Skies) and Nebraska Roots (150 year celebration of the state of NE)
Museums and communities in Nebraska and surrounding states can schedule one of these shows. You can view Impact’s various exhibitions on its website—www.impactart.ne.org
