30-year-old killed, teen injured in crash east of Kearney

KEARNEY, Neb. -- A two-vehicle fatal crash east of Kearney on Highway 30 near Ravenna Road on Friday left one dead and one injured.

The crash occurred at 4:50 p.m. on February 9 roughly a quarter mile west of the intersection of Ravenna Rd on Hwy 30.

Authorities said a westbound 2003 Toyota Echo lost control and crossed into the oncoming lane where it collided with an eastbound 2007 Dodge Ram pickup.

The driver of Toyota, Ignacio Machado Rosario, 30, of Gibbon, died at the scene.

The driver of pickup, a 17-year-old from Hastings, was transported from the scene to Kearney CHI GSH, treated and released.

Other than the drivers, there were no other occupants.

Weather and roadway conditions may be a contributing factor in this crash, police said.

Next of Kin have been notified. The Buffalo County Attorney has ordered an autopsy and the investigation is continuing.
