Law enforcement and firefighters in North Platte honored those who lost their lives on September 11th with their annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive.

The annual blood drives results in more than 100 pints of blood being donated to the Red Cross. The goal for this year is 120 points of blood.

Law enforcement from the North Platte Police Department, Sheriff's Office, and State Patrol came out to support their team.

"It's been great for the community. It brings us all a chance of unity between both departments even though there is a little give and take back and fourth, we still have fun with it and nobody gets too upset when we lose," said Lt. Rich Hoaglund with the North Platte Police Department.

Firefighters and volunteers had a strong turnout as well for the event. Everyone who gave blood was able to vote for the team they thought should win.
