Blizzard warnings in effect Saturday

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- Blizzard Warnings are in effect across the area through Saturday evening.

Rain Friday morning will turn over to snow Friday afternoon with moderate to heavy snow falling into Saturday morning.

Heavy snow accumulations are possible across the area.

Winds will be very strong, from the north sustained between 20 and 40 MPH with wind gusts as high as 60 MPH possible.

The combination of snow and wind will create extremely poor visibility with blowing snow and whiteout conditions expected.

Travel and road conditions will be difficult and dangerous, if not near impossible Friday evening into the overnight hours.

Travel is not advised.

Heavy snow and strong winds could lead to tree damage as well as power outages across the area.
