Boardwalk merchants to hold back to school bash

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. KNOP The Boardwalk at 4th and Walnut are hosting a back to school bash this Sunday, August 12th from 12 PM to 4 PM.

There will be bounce houses, games, food and a raffle for the chance to win an above ground swimming pool.

All proceeds will go back to their "Backpacks of Love" campaign.

The goal is to donate fifty backpacks to children who are in foster care.

"All children need the simple things such as pencils, crayons, notebooks but, we also put in things like bath wash, poofs things they can have specifically for them," said Mammoth Clothing Exchange owner Lori Stewart.

The public is also encouraged to donate items to the campaign.

For each item that is donated through Sunday, five raffle tickets will be given to go towards the grand prize.

Items needed are new or barely used backpacks, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, poofs, hair brush, ties, bows, toothbrush, toothpaste, fluoride wash, pens, pencils, crayons, pencil boxes, notebooks, color books, new or barely used children's books and stuffed animals, gift cards (Walmart, Visa) no size too small, and anything that conveys a message of LOVE.

Donations will still be accepted through the end of the month.
