North Platte, Neb. (KNOP) -- A Catholic priest is now free after he was abducted by armed terrorists in Yemen in 2016. Father Tom Uzhunnalil's release was arranged with help through the Oman government.

A picture from Oman's state news agency, ONA, shows him in good health. India's Foreign Minister is tweeting the confirmation of his release

The Indian priest was taken from a nursing home after he celebrated mass. Sixteen people died, including four nuns.

Father Tom Uzhunnalil will be returning to India.

Father Uzhunnalil has Nebraska ties, as he has fellow priests in the Grand Island Diocese.
