Celebrating National Ice Cream Day

By  |

Yes, it's true, Sunday, July 16 is National Ice Cream Day.

The third Sunday of every July was actually declared as National Ice Cream Day by President Ronald Reagan in 1984.

Reagan actually used the holiday to promote the U.S. dairy industry and its importance to the country.

Whether you'd like to celebrate the industry or the holiday, with the hot weather we're having, it's a particularly good day to grab yourself some ice cream.

Some places are also offering some deals on the delicious treat to help celebrate!

McDonald's is offering a free vanilla ice cream cone if you download the McDonald's app.

Cold Stone Creamery is offering a buy one, get one deal.

And Wendy's is offering a Frosty for 50 cents for a limited time.

And, as always, the UNL Dairy Store is open from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., serving cool and tasty treats.
