Company plans to build 296 living spaces in North Platte

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-- A new housing development is in the works and it could bring a wide range of living options to North Platte, including single-family homes, duplexes and apartments.

The announcement came today from the North Platte Area Chamber of Commerce and Development Corporation and BiC Construction, LLC., a company based in Lincoln.

"We anticipate bringing approximately 296 new dwelling units to the North Platte market," Boyd Batterman of BiC Construction, LLC., said. "We hope to implement at least four different housing products--approximately 100 single-family homes, 26 duplex-style homes, 26 townhome/4-plex style homes and 144 apartment living units."

The potential development site, "Prairie Skies at Two Rivers," is located at the northeast corner of West A Street and Lakeview Boulevard. BiC Construction wants to buy the 62-acre property from Hoppe Lumber Company.

The project is pending on the city's approval to use tax increment financing, or TIF money, to fund the development.

BiC Construction, LLC. says that the company is familiar with the area and believes that this development could help with the housing demand in North Platte.

Pending city approvals, construction could begin as early as this fall.
