NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-- Fire crews respond to a blaze off Highway 30 on Sun., March 11. The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to personal property.
According to Capt. Jeff Hankla of the North Platte Fire Department and Fire Chief Toby Tobiasson of the Hershey Volunteer Fire Department , the call came in just after 2 p.m., with the house fire on the border of the Hershey/North Platte fire district.
Crews from both Hershey and North Platte responded to the home and found smoke coming from the living room. Fortunately, the fire burned itself out and was contained to that area of the home; but, much of the property inside the home sustained serious smoke and heat damage. The structure of the home was still intact.
The father and son at home at the time of the incident escaped without injury.
The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
