Fire Prevention Week: Every Second Counts

By  |

Every second counts, plan two ways out. That's the theme for this year's fire prevention week.

On Tuesday, kids in North Platte toured the city's main fire station, learning about what a day in the life of a fire fighter looks like.

They were able to see the vehicles the fire department use and familiarize themselves with the equipment. They even were able to try on some of the gear.

Fire officials say educating at a young age is very important because there have been times where kids have run away from firefighters in a fire.

On Wednesday, the fire department will be taking a fire truck to McDonald Elementary to teach kids about fire prevention and fire safety.
