Fire destroys trailer on 5th Street

Fire crews in North Platte responded to a trailer fire on the two thousandth block of East Fifth Street.

The call came in just after 10am. All three fire stations responded, along with volunteers.

It took crews about fifteen minutes to get the fire under control. The windows were boarded up and it was unoccupied at the time. The structure is considered to be a total loss.

NPFD Captain Edward Etherton says trailer fires are dangerous for a couple different reasons, mainly because the older models have metal exteriors and tend to burn more rapidly.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
