LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Men’s Basketball team wore patches on their uniforms on Saturday reading “Hate Will Never Win”, in response to a recent video that surfaced involving a white nationalist student.
The Huskers battle Rutgers at 3 p.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
The team also simultaneously tweeted out "Hate Will Never Win" on Thursday evening, and Head Coach Tim Miles was spotted at a rally against the video on Wednesday.
Miles says his players realize they can make a statement that will resonate and have a positive impact on the campus community.
The video is of a Google hangout with a University of Nebraska Lincoln student.
1011 has chosen not to name the student.
The individual calls himself "the most active white nationalist in Nebraska." In August, he traveled to Charlottesville for the "Unite the Right" rally.
In the Jan. 23 video, he also said he wants to be really violent, but now is not the right time.
The Huskers have won four straight games and are battling for a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
