J.C. Penney closing three stores in Nebraska

NORTH PLATTE. Neb -- J.C. Penney Company, Inc will be closing 138 stores including 3 in Nebraska. The stores in Nebraska closing are in Fremont, McCook and North Platte.

Approximately 5,000 positions nationwide will be impacted by the store closures, most of which will occur in June.

A spokeswoman for the company said approximately 25 associates will be impacted at the North Platte location and is expected to close in Mid-June.

Most affected stores will begin the liquidation process on April 17. The company plans on providing outplacement support services for eligible associates who will be leaving the company.
