Students at Jefferson Elementary are taking what they learn and putting it into action. On Friday, a K-9 drug dog from the Nebraska State Patrol paid a visit to 3rd graders at their school.
For the past week they studied service dogs. A stuffed bunny scented with drugs was hidden in one of the cabinets.
Students were able to see a live demonstration of the dog's drug sniffing abilities. Afterwards they were able to ask a lot of questions.
"The best thing about the 3rd graders is that they're just at the point where curiosity has taken over with their ability to reason and they just have the best questions," said Lt. Gordon Downing with the Nebraska State Patrol.
This is the second year in a row a service dog has visited the school.
