And here is a statement from the Viaero Events Center about the Wednesday cancellation:
Although I realize an apology will not suffice for all of the events surrounding last nights scheduled performance; I want to provide you with an explanation and a true timeline of last night’s events as I feel you were unintentionally kept in the dark. When I arrived in town at approximately 6pm I was made aware that the third party vendor responsible for the setup and execution of the show was missing some key people due to the flu and cold weather. It is my understanding they had been working all day to replace those out ill and secure the necessary crew members to continue the show. They had also continued with the set build and the show was to go on as planned. As soon as I arrived, I promptly went into a meeting with the production company and the third party vendor. It became evident the production team felt because the third party vendor was missing these key people, it would create a safety risk to the cast and production team. After strongly negotiating to proceed with the show for about 30 minutes it became obvious the production team was unwilling to proceed without these key people. I had no other choice at that point than to end the meeting and cancel the show. I promptly proceeded to the concourse to notify the public the show had been cancelled. Only then did I learn the doors had not been opened promptly at 6:30 pm by orders of the production company. We immediately opened the doors and let the patrons in to inform them of the cancelation.
All tickets and fees have been reversed on all cards and will be credited based on your bank’s policies. If you paid in cash, tickets can be returned to the box office where you will receive a full refund. Believe me, if I could have solved this unfortunate incident any other way, I would have. It obviously is a terrible outcome for both you the patron and the Viaero Event Center as we have already paid the artist, are refunding all the funds back to all of you, and have several additional expenses incurred in putting on this performance. The Viaero Event Center strives to provide you with an amazing experience at every event we host and are extremely disappointed to be dealing with the situation at hand. Please know, although the situation was out of my control, I will be addressing each and every part of last night’s shortcomings to ensure an unfortunate event like this does not happen again in the future. In the 9 years I have been owner of The Viaero Event Center, this is the first time any cancellation has ever happened. Going forward, my intent will be to regain your confidence and provide an enjoyable atmosphere for all patrons and their families. I offer this not as an excuse, but felt you the patron deserved an explanation for the situation. - Kirk Brooks owner."
