North Platte, Neb. (KNOP) - The new McDonald's building is nearly ready for business. Contractors, owners, and McDonald's employees worked hard today to make up for lost time, due to the blizzard earlier this week. Scheduled to tentatively open Thursday, they will open Friday instead.
In addition to being a new building, with new equipment; the new location (just feet from the old building) has two drive thru lanes, and three customer service windows.
Employees and owners admit that it might take a little while to work out all the "bugs," but they believe ultimately, it will be a much better situation for them and their customers.
Staff trainer, Stephanie Johnson, said that the kitchen is set up much better - as employees will not have to take as many wasted steps to fill orders.
Owner, Adam Otte said that AOI, the contractor, really worked hard to overcome the blizzard that got them off of schedule from their anticipated opening date of Thursday. What could have set them back several days -only set them back one day.
They will be open for business at 7 a.m. on Friday, January, 26th.
Inside the restaurant, McDonald's will be implementing an improved, "hospitality philosophy." Within a couple weeks they will have ordering kiosks up and running. Customers will be able to come in, take their time, place and order and sit down.
A hostess will be available to help with ordering. And service providers will deliver food to tables. At-counter ordering will still be available for those who do not wish to use kiosks.
The employees are excited.
Stephanie Johnson said, "I love working for this company. They have been very good to me."
