NORTH PLATTE, Neb. The 20th Century Veteran's Memorial Association held their annual Memorial Day ceremony Monday right off of route 83.
Even though the memorial is under construction with the relaying of dedicated bricks, that didn't keep people from coming out and enjoying the event and honoring loved ones whose names may be on the bricks displayed.
Memorial service attendee Kenneth Schimonitz said, "I got a brick out here and I got one for my brother-in-law in Michigan and one for my brother-in-law in Omaha and then I got my brother has one out here and stuff. And then I got a lot of neighbors and relatives like that that's got bricks out here and stuff."
Veterans and civilians gathered to celebrate the day and share stories together while also learning about the history of the holiday.
