North Mid-Plains hosts 11th annual Skills USA contest

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - There were 141 high school students attending the Skills USA contest at North campus of Mid-Plains on Monday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Students competed in various technical areas. They were - Team-building construction; carpentry; auto mechanical; welding; construction drafting; electrical technology; and HVAC/R.

Winners of the Skills Tests are as follows:
AUTO MECHANICS:
1st place - Colton Heinemann, Perkins Co.
2nd place - Tanner Carr, North Platte
3rd place - Kyle Mull, North Platte
BUILDING CONSTRUCTION (team) -
First place - Joel Myers, Ethan Bazyn, Trayvin Russell, and Bladen Nichols of Broken Bow
Second place - Matt Stichka, Tom Kramer, Lane Edis, and Kayden Licking of Mullen.
Third place - Chase Miller, Rebecca Marin, Cort West and Joel Finney of Anselmo-Merna.
CARPENTRY:
1st place - Megan Christen, Anselmo-Merna
2nd place - Cameron Downey, Anselmo-Merna
3rd place - Josh Johnston, Perkins Co.
CONSTRUCTION DRAFTING:
