North Platte Public School Board passes $57-million budget

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-- On Monday night, the North Platte Public School Board passed a $57-million budget across the district for the 2017-2018 year.

Executive Director of Finance Stuart Simpson said that the general fund did decrease this year by about $1.5-million because of a loss of state aid; however, the tax levy does remain the same, sitting at $1.18 per $100 of valuation.

To combat the loss of state aid and the need to maintain the 25 percent maximum in cash reserves, the district currently plans to use money from the cash reserves in the 2017-2018 budget.
