NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-- After re-branding, the Ready To Serve volunteer program honored its former board members today, October 11th, 2017.
Five trees were planted to honor members of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program that served on the board for at least eight years.
Dozens of current and former board members took part in the honor ceremony.
RSVP was initiated in August 1973, with 20 volunteers. Since then it has grow to over 650 active members.
In July 2013, it was renamed to Ready To Serve.
"Well the trees are a good example of the sturdiness of the people, the board and their longevity and dedicated-ness," says Mary Schimmin, a former board member.
The name change was to welcome volunteers of all ages.
