NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - UPDATE (April 14, 8:39 p.m.): According to 511 Nebraska, much of Interstate 80 is reopen after roughly 24 hours of being closed. The interstate is open west of Cozad.

ORIGINAL STORY (April 13): US Hwy 30 Westbound is closed at Lexington to North Platte & from North Platte to Big Springs.
I-80 is closed for westbound traffic at Lexington to Ogallala. US 83 South of North Platte to the Kansas State Line is also impassable and closed to thru traffic.
The Nebr. Dept. of Roads is closing west bound lanes of Interstate 80 and Highway 30 at North Platte all the way to the Wyoming border. I-76 is closed to Colorado. N-61 from the Keith/Perkins County line south is also closed.
Roger Klasna with the Nebraska Department of Roads, says "Blizzard conditions are now impacting Ogallala on I-80 and throughout the Sandhills."
"Travelers can expect dangerous travel conditions with a combination of heavy snow & strong winds near whiteout conditions, blowing & drifting. Snow will become more widespread through the afternoon and evening hours, with significant impacts to travel this afternoon and overnight," says Klasna.
Klasna says blizzard or near blizzard conditions will continue to move east throughout this region. Travel may become impassable due to the lack of visibility or drifting snow.
