NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- (KNOP) Signing day may be over a week away but that didn't stop four local athletes from putting pen to paper earlier today.
North Platte senior softball player Jayda Paul committed to the Hastings Lady Broncos softball team and Bryan McGahan, Easton Clark and Jayden Brosius all committed to Concordia.
According to Maxpreps Paul played in a total of 71 games with a .375 batting average, 47 runs batted in and seven career home runs. As a senior Paul led the Bulldogs in several statistical categories including home runs (6), batting average (.420), hits (47) and doubles (12). Paul plans on majoring in psychology and minoring in business. She is currently expected to play either third base or center field.
Concordia athletics picked up a local trio with today's signings. Easton Clark and Jayden Brosius committed to the Bulldogs for football and Bryan McGahan for wrestling.
Clark decided on the Bulldogs after considering UNK, however after camping with Concordia and spending time around the coaches decided that the environment in Lincoln would better suit him. Clark has been told he could play defensive back but has also had discussions with the coaches about playing offense. He plans on majoring in pre-radiation.
Clark was one of the Panthers most exciting weapons on each side of the field in the fall. Clark carried the rock for over 1,000 yards and ten touchdowns to go along with 52 solo tackles and two interceptions on defense. Clark played four years of varsity with 36 games under his belt and finished his high school career with nearly 3,000 career total yards and 40 total touchdowns.
McGahan had looked at Doane and some other schools in Iowa but felt that Concordia sold him the most and he never looked back. Currently he believes he will be wrestling at the 197 pound weight class and intends on going pre-med.
