2012 is a special year for the Miss Nebraska pageant.

In June the pageant will be celebrating 75 years.

Organizers have some special events planned for their diamond celebration

The Miss Nebraska pageant is one of the marquee events in North Platte over the summer.

This year's the pageant will crown their 75th Miss Nebraska.

In order to make this year special the organization is bringing in county singer Patrick Thomas from NBC's The Voice to sing and perform.

Astronaut Clayton Anderson is one of the judges and former Miss Nebraska and Miss America Teresa Scanlan will be a special guest.

“It is all falling together nicely. We are very excited about the possibilities,” said Jay Engel.

This year the Miss Nebraska committee will host a concert Wednesday before the 1st night of preliminaries.

It will feature Thomas, Anderson, and Scanlan.

“I am hoping with the addition of Clayton Anderson it might attract some younger men, some dads that might want to come and see him,” says Alan Perlinger, Miss Nebraska Board President.

Teresa Scanlan will bring in the little girls that look up to her as a role model.

Patrick Thomas adds a whole another dimension that we are bringing to the whole week.

The Miss Nebraska pageant attracts a big crowd year after year.

Organizers hope more events including a parade on Saturday morning June 9th and some big name guest will make this year extra special.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for kids.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 532-6994 or stopping by 801 South Dewey.
