The Stapleton Community center was the site for the Veteran's Memorial and the dedication took place immediately following, celebrating the village of Stapleton's 100th birthday.
The center itself is four years in the making and community members celebrated the completion of the building, which is a former bowling alley, and youth center.
The multi-use building is home to senior center meetings, council meetings and can be used for receptions and fairs.
"A few people had a dream and I didn't know if we could make that happen or not, but we were determined that we would try, and we did. We succeeded and it's a lot better than we anticipated. It turned out a lot better and I know it's going to be a very viable, useable building that will serve the community of Stapleton well," says Marcia Hora, Community Center Board Member.
In the ceiling of the Center a time capsule with memorabilia from the first century of Stapleton's history will be placed to be opened in 2112.
