A Custer County fire Wednesday, forced crews to battle a blaze for seven hours, in the heat.
Callaway Volunteer Fire Chief, Charles Jorgenson says a hay swather started the fire, eight miles east of Callaway.
Officials think a hot bearing started the blaze around 2 p.m.
It quickly spread into pasture with a lot of cedar trees.
Volunteers from Callaway, Arnold, Ansley, Broken Bow, Merna, and Oconto were on the scene until 9 p.m.
500 acres were charred.
