Some big names in Husker football are set to appear at this year's 10th annual Big Red Banquet.

Although it’s not official yet Rex Burkhead has verbally committed to join the festivities when the banquet takes center stage in March.

He is just one of five Huskers that will be part of the 10th annual banquet.

Anticipation is building for this year's Big Red Sports Banquet.

The fundraiser for the North Platte Catholic Schools features several auction items.

The highlight for the event is the appearance by Husker football players.

“We have commitments from Baker Steinkuhler, Ben Cotton, and Kyler Reed. We are waiting to officially receive the letters from Rex Burkhead and Will Compton,” says Tim O'Connor, Big Red Banquet Organizer.

Husker football is big in Nebraska.

People look up to the players that are part of the tradition in excellence.

The banquet allows people to get an up close look at some of their favorite Huskers.

“The kids are always great about mingling with people. If you want a picture when the auction is going on a lot them will go out and converse with people and so things. You can defiantly get up close and personal with these kids,” says O'Connor.

Husker players like Rex Brukhead are sure to bring in a good sized crowd for this year's event.

The banquet will take place March 16th at the Holiday Inn Express.

Tickets will go on sale February 15th.
