Biking For Smiles

By Kristyna Engdahl.

Their journey began in Florence, Oregon, and won't end until they reach the Eastern boarder of the United States.

Two activists for 'Smile Train', which is an organization that funds the training and travel of doctors to third world countries, who specialize in cleft palette correction, will reach their half way point in Nebraska.

Chris Beddoe (bed-OH) and Colt Sherman each carry the weight of their camping gear and travel supplies on their bike, weighing between 65 to 45 pounds.

Their distance traveled will total 3,200 miles by the time they reach Maryland.

Chris Beddoe says, "As the trips progressed, at least for me its been a mental battle. Its' been long, probably spend about 8-10 hours in the saddle a day. So it can be a little tired and a little sore, a little hard."

Colt Sherman adds, " Most people think it's mostly physical which it definitely is physical, but it's mental also. It's a mental test."

Their monetary goal is $7,500a piece, with all proceeds directly benefiting the Smile Train.
