It's the hottest trend in 5K marathons and it's coming to North Platte next year.

The Lincoln County Visitors Bureau and the Great Plains Regional Medical Center presents the first ever Color Dash run in state.

"The color dash, type of run is really the hottest thing right now in fitness. Especially in the running world," said Megan Hoover of Hoover Chiropractic Center.

These types of 5K runs have been popping up all over the country in areas like San Diego, Phoenix and Eugene as a great way to get people active and moving.

"It is a really fun 5K. There's four color stations and at each color station is a different color in itself so as people are walking, running, jumping, rolling, skipping, hopping, however you want to get through that color station, you will actually be getting color on a white shirt that actually comes in your race packet," said Head of the Color Dash Committee Ginger Ady.

The Color Dash will be held on May 18th at 2 pm. The race will start and end at the North Platte Community College- South Campus.

All proceeds will go to the North Platte Area Sports Commission, which is an organization that is committed to bringing more fun, competitive and non-competitive sporting events to the North Platte are.
