FNBO Nationals split doubleheader with Kearney

North Platte scores 12 in game one, but blanked in game two

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The North Platte FNBO Nationals hosted Kearney Runza at Bill Wood Field on Tuesday. The Nationals started out game one scoring first, and used a ten-run fourth inning to win the game 12-4 in five innings.

Derrick Kuhlmann drove in three runs for the Nationals, and Bryce Butterfield pitched five innings with four strikeouts in the win.

Game two did not fare as well offensively for the Nationals. Kearney pitcher Seth Stroh pitched five shutout innings, with eight strikeouts, and the Nationals were blanked 5-0.

North Platte moves to 10-4 on the season, and return home Wednesday to host Lexington for a doubleheader.

In other local Legion baseball action, the Gothenburg Melons visited Broken Bow for a junior/senior doubleheader. The Indian juniors won 8-6, and the seniors won 14-6. The Ogallala juniors scored six runs in the sixth inning to win a comeback game, 9-8, the seniors scored ten runs in the first inning on the way to a 19-2 win.
