NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -A flood warning is in effect for the North Platte River until further notice.

Lincoln County Emergency Manager Brandon Myers said the high river levels are due to releases at Lake McConaughy. They are expected to fluctuate around the flood stage of six feet for three weeks starting Friday.

Myers said Cody Park to about 4 miles west of Highway 83 will be affected the most.

Recreation along the river is not recommended during this time.
