North Platte golfers sit in top ten after first day of NGA Junior Amateur Championship

Baylee Steele and Karsen Morrison are tied for eighth for the girls, Kasch Morrison sits eighth for boys

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Tuesday was the first day of competition for the Nebraska Golf Association Junior Amateur Championship in Scottsbluff. Several local golfers are competing in the event, and a few are in the top ten after one day.

In the girls competition, North Platte’s Baylee Steele and Karsen Morrison each shot 80 (+8) and are tied for eighth place, sitting six strokes behind the leader. Harley Hiltibrand (Brule) is in 14th place, she shot 83 (+11).

For the boys, North Platte’s Kasch Morrison shot 74 (+2), and holds eighth place, three strokes behind first. Jayden Jones (North Platte) and Payton Craw (McCook) are tied for 25th, they shot 79 (+7). Brady Davis (Cozad) and Brady Esch (McCook) are tied for 42nd, they shot 82 (+10). Blake Barner (North Platte) is tied for 50th, he shot 83 (+11). Jacob Woodmancy (Grant) is tied for 56th, he shot 84 (+12). Connor Hasenauer (North Platte) is tied for 66th, he shot 88 (+16). Caleb Castillo (Brule) is in 75th, he shot 100 (+28).

Wednesday will be the second day of the event. Scores will be updated live throughout the day: (Girls) (Boys)
