NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -A cold front will combine with some mid-level energy to bring much of the local area a significant thunderstorm threat Wednesday night.

Some of the thunderstorms could be severe with large hail...damaging winds...and even an isolated tornado or two. Heavy rain will also be a concern with some of the thunderstorm activity and localized flooding may be possible in spots. Behind the front Thursday will be a little cooler and a little less humid than the past several days with highs in the upper 80s expected...but another disturbance drifting across the region late in the day will bring the chance for thunderstorms back to the forecast area by Thursday night...and yet another wave of low pressure could lead to more ‘storms on Friday with highs returning to the low 90s. High pressure building in from the southwest should spell a mainly dry weekend ahead...with highs in the lower 90s both weekend days for the North Platte area.
