Lincoln County Raceway to host ‘Thanksgiving in July’ event
Race attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food items for the Grace Ministries Food Pantry
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The Lincoln County Raceway will be hosting a ‘Thanksgiving in July’ event on Saturday, July 11.
Race attendees who bring five or more non-perishable food items will be given a free soda and popcorn, and be entered into a raffle to win one of two bicycles donated by Rob Durfee. The donated food items will be given to the Grace Ministries Food Pantry in North Platte.
The Raceway will also have a ‘Thankful for you’ board, where people will put the names of people they are thankful for. Those names will be entered into a raffle, and the winner will get a dinner paid for by the Raceway to the Canteen Bar & Grill.
Additionally, there will be a pumpkin pie tasting contest, judged by Raceway officials. The winner of the contest will be given the “coveted” wooden spoon trophy, and a visa gift card. Second and third place will also receive gift cards.
“We are really thankful for the support the community has shown us, and we wanted to do that back for the community,” said Raceway promoter Dave Craft. “Because we’re thankful all year long, and we’re thankful for everything the community has done for us, and supported us in the re-opening of the race track.”
The Raceway will also continue its junior co-pilot program, which it debuted last week. For the program, kids draw drivers’ names, and if their driver wins, the kid gets a trophy, their picture taken with the driver, and their picture put in the program for the next event.
