Nebraska Junior Amateur Golf Championship day two results
Three local girls finish in the top 15, while four local boys make the round three cut
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Wednesday was the second day of the Nebraska Golf Association Junior Amateur Championship in Scottsbluff. The girls’ competition ended Wednesday, while the boys’ competition made cuts to the top 40 competitors.
In the girls’ competition, North Platte’s Baylee Steele shot 75 (+3) Wednesday and 155 (+11) overall to finish in seventh place, five strokes behind the leader. Harley Hiltibrand (Brule) shot 76 (+4) and 159 (+15), to finish tenth. Karsen Morrison (North Platte) shot 86 (+14) and 166 (+22), and finished tied for 14th.
“I had a rough start, but I ended pretty well, so I feel good about finishing seventh,” said Steele after the event. “I feel like I battled pretty well, I had some rough things happen, and I battled back with some birdies, and so it felt good to finish where I did.”
Four local golfers made the cut of the top 40 golfers in the boy’s competition. Kasch Morrison (North Platte) shot 78 (+6) Wednesday, and sits in 13th place. Jayden Jones (North Platte) shot 76 (+4) and is tied for 23rd. Jacob Woodmancy (Grant) shot 75 (+3) and is tied for 34th. Brady Esch (McCook) shot 78 (+6) and is tied for 37th. Round three will continue Thursday, the first competitor tees off at 8 a.m. mountain time.
The following golfers did not not make the final cut: Payton Craw (McCook), Brady Davis (Cozad), Connor Hasenauer (North Platte), Blake Barner (North Platte), Caleb Castillo (Brule).
