NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Mid-Plains Community College is helping people whose employment has been negatively impacted by the pandemic.

The college is partnering with the Department of Economic Development and the Nebraska Department of Labor to provide assistance.

The program is called the Nebraska Workforce Initiative.

It allows people who have lost their jobs to receive a scholarship for training for high-wage, high-demand careers.

Mid-Plains Area Career Placement Coordinator Amy Sabatka is excited about the program

“It’s exciting because this is something that we know is needed,” said Sabatka. “So, to have that opportunity for our people to be able to experience it and further their education, it’s amazing we have that chance.”

To apply you can visit the Mid-Plains Community College website or contact Amy Sabatka on the North Campus in North Platte.
