Nationals sweep Gering Friday
North Platte wins Friday's games 4-1, 19-4
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - North Platte hosted Gering for two afternoon games at Bill Wood Field Friday.
Game one between the Nationals and PVC started at 3 p.m., and was played quickly, ending before 4:30 p.m.
North Platte scored first, with Cody Wright driving in Jaylan Ruffin in the bottom of the first. Gering tied the game on a sacrifice fly in the third inning, but the Nationals took the lead back in the bottom half of the inning, and would not relinquish it, scoring insurance runs in the fifth and sixth to win 4-1.
Wright, Ruffin, Tate Janas, and Derrick Kuhlmann drove in the runs for the Nationals, and Gus Kreber pitched 4.2 innings in relief, striking out four batters.
Game two featured more offense from the Nationals. Both teams traded runs in the first inning, but the Nationals exploded for 13 runs in the bottom of the third, ten of which came with two outs.
Cole Wright led the team with four RBI in game two, and Jeremiah Seamann had three hits in the game, and the Nationals won 19-4.
The Nationals are now 22-10 on the season, and return home on Sunday, July 19, for two games against Norfolk.
