NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP)- On Sunday, a cold front will push southward bringing a refreshing change to the hot, humid weather we’ve been experiencing. Thunderstorms will be a little more widespread from mid morning through the afternoon and evening. The timing of the front should greatly reduce the chances for any widespread severe weather, but an isolated strong storm can’t be discounted along and south of Interstate 80. Lingering precipitation behind the front will push out of the region overnight. Temperatures are going to cool into the 80s on Sunday and beyond as we move in a more seasonal period.

Temperatures will be more comfortable through next week, staying in the 80s through into next Saturday over much of the Greater Nebraska area. It will be a little warmer in the Western Panhandle, especially late in the week as and upper level ridge reestablishes itself into the Western High Plains. The weather pattern aloft switches to a northwesterly direction ushering in a series of disturbancers promoting periods of scattered to isolated thunderstorms each day.
