Thedford says bittersweet goodbye to a family owned business plant
Pearson Livestock Equipment will still operate as business down in Texas
THEDFORD, Neb. (KNOP) -
The Pearson Livestock Equipment company closed it’s Thedford plant on June 6th of this year, bringing an end to more than five-decades in the small village.
On Friday, friends, family and past employees gathered to share their remarks and memories of the company, who’s owner, L.B. “Bud” Pearson, passed away in 2016.
“We are celebrating the life of the company since it has recently shutdown the Thedford plant and is all moved to the Texas plant,” said Marian Eicher, the daughter of L.B. Pearson.
At its peak, the plant employed 22 people in a village of less than 200, serving as a valuable second income for those who worked on ranches.
While it is a bittersweet goodbye, Marian Eicher was understanding of the business decision to close the plant and was grateful for all the memories that were shared.
“It’s an awesome feeling to know the company has been respected for all these years and has been appreciated in the community.”
