NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Chances for rain and thunderstorms ramp up today through early Friday as a series of disturbances and fronts moves across the region. We’ll have small chances for some showers throughout the day today with scattered showers and some thunderstorms becoming likely by late afternoon. Some storms could be marginally severe with heavy rainfall being the main threat. This could lead to localized flooding for some. Gusty winds, hail, and even an isolated tornado are also possible.

Highs today will be seasonal again, topping out in the upper 80s in North Platte. Thanks to more clouds and rain over the next couple of days we will see cooler than average temperatures with highs in the upper 70s to low and mid 80s. Below average temperatures stick around through this weekend, even with more sunshine expected by Saturday. Overall it is looking like a great weekend to enjoy the outdoors!
