Mid Plains Community College holds pinning ceremony for the Class of 2020 Nursing Class

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -Mid Plains Community College held their Associate Degree of Nursing Class of 2020 Pinning Ceremony on Friday afternoon at the Mid Plains Community College gymnasium. It was a special ceremony proceeding the full graduation ceremony held for all 2020 graduates later in the day.

The modern ceremony dates back to the 1860s, when Florence Nightingale was awarded the Red Cross of St. George in recognition for her tireless service to the injured during the Crimean War. To share the honor, she in turn presented a medal of excellence to her brightest graduates. By 1916, the practice of pinning new graduates was standard throughout the U.S.

Associate Degree of Nursing Graduates: Josiah Barmore, Kylin Brooks, Derek Farmer, Neyva Flores, Emily Gottschalk, Shayla Hecht, Jasmyn James, Abbey Jones, Allison Kramer, Taylor Matson, Amanda Mays, Kelsie Medina, Ashlee Morosic, Emilia Pacheco, Madelyn Peters, Mindy Schmadeke, Baykie Simmonds, Mara Wardyn, Andrea Wilder, Emma Young, and Jenna Young.
