Staying unsettled the next few days
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The weather pattern is expected to remain a bit unsettled over the next few days before a ridge of high pressure will bring a return of summer heat and humidity to the area into the weekend. With northwest flow aloft, multiple disturbances are forecast to move across the area the next few days. These passing waves of low pressure will keep thunderstorm chances in the forecast , again on Wednesday with some strong to severe storms possible across the area.
Thunderstorms on Wednesday are expected to develop across the high country in eastern Wyoming and Colorado before pushing east into the Panhandle and into the coverage area. Large hail and damaging winds are likely the primary threats for both days as well.
Temperatures are expected to track upwards through this week and into the weekend. Look for highs in North Platte on Wednesday in the mid to upper 80s with mostly sunny skies before clouds and rain chances increase Wednesday evening.
Temperatures will likely remain the mid to upper 80s again on Thursday before finally warming into the low and mid 90s by Friday into the weekend. More upper level disturbances could move through the area during the second half of the week into the weekend, but the exact timing is tough to pinpoint this far out. There is at least a slight chance of rain each day Thursday through the weekend.
