St. Patrick’s schools welcomes new principal
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - With the school year starting back up, St. Patrick’s junior and senior high schools welcome a new principal for the 2020 - 2021 school year. After about 300 days of praying, Matt Irish explained how he now realizes that this is exactly where Jesus wanted to use him.
“When the opportunity presented itself, it wasn’t that I had searched for it. It was just that god had created it and I just needed to be prepared for his will,” Irish said.
Irish has spent the majority of his career with elementary-level students. He said everything comes down to understanding the students one on one and building a relationship with them.
“Ultimately, education comes down to students, and having a one on one understanding of the students,” Irish said. “And that they’re learners and so I believe that kindergartners and seniors in high school are drastically different. But, in many ways, their minds are the same. And there are instructional strategies that work for all people.”
It’s quiet at St. Pat’s right now but in a couple of weeks students will be welcomed with a smile from their new principal and faculty. The community in North Platte is very excited to have him teaching at the St. Patrick schools.
