NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -Karen Pochop Art is located on the third floor of the Prairie Arts Center. She was the first artist to move into a space after the renovations, and Pochop said it is a beautiful space where she can paint and “lose track of time.”

She said having her own studio is “a dream come true.” She didn’t really start painting until about ten years ago. She enjoyed watching her mom doodle when she was a child, and she said it inspired her.

She doesn’t consider painting work, even though she has clients all of the country, and some in Canada. She said many people hire her to paint portraits of their pets. She said they come in with photographs and she paints a portrait.

Pochop has done some teaching, and she hopes to resume that again soon now that she is set up at the Prairie Arts Center. She also likes it when people stop by to look at her work.
