NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The Sandhills/Thedford volleyball team has one case of COVID-19. The positive case is associated with Thedford High School, but the person’s role on the team could not be disclosed. In total, 19 team members are currently quarantined, seven from Thedford, and 12 from Sandhills High School.

Friday’s volleyball game against Mullen, and next Tuesday’s game against Arthur County have both been postponed.

Friday’s football game against Mullen is still scheduled to be played in Thedford. Thedford superintendent Blake Dahlberg said through contract tracing the school believes no football players have been exposed. At the game, social distancing will be enforced, masks are strongly encouraged, but not required. Dahlberg said he also encourages fans to spread out behind the end zone, and along sidelines, to limit close contact with other fans.

“We’ve been trying to be as careful as possible,” Dahlberg said. “A majority of our students are wearing masks and we’re social distancing. We will continue to monitor and adjust based on the situation.”
