NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - 50-year-old Dewaine Nichols, formally of North Platte pleaded “not guilty” to two serious charges in Frontier County District Court, Thursday.

Nichols appeared in Frontier County District Court Thursday for an arraignment, with Judge David Urbom presiding. Attorney Russ Jones of North Platte is representing the man who is charged on suspicion of assault and attempted motor vehicle homicide for hitting a woman with his car in a case of road rage on Highway 83 between McCook and Maywood on June 16th.

The Nebraska State Patrol arrested Nichols about an hour and a half after he fled the scene.

Nichols is out of jail on a bond.

Judge Urbom set Nichols next court date for October 8th in Frontier County District Court.
