NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - After a stretch of unseasonably cool weather, warmer temperatures are expected to headline the forecast into the weekend and next week. While a warm up is coming, we’ll have to deal with one more cool day on Friday to finish the week. Temperatures are forecast to stay well below average, with highs in the 60s to right around 70° for most of western Nebraska - including in North Platte.

The upper level low that has brought on the cool, wet weather across much of the region could still give us a scattered shower through afternoon. By Friday and evening, rain chances should begin to wind down and clouds should begin to clear out.

By Saturday, sunny skies with dry conditions are forecast with temperatures jumping back to the mid 70s in North Platte. Temperatures continue to trend up on Sunday with highs in the low 80s for North Platte and the surrounding area. By next week, above average temperatures with highs in the mid to upper 80s return to the forecast with mainly sunny skies and mainly dry weather expected.
