POW/MIA Ceremony set for Friday

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -The Sioux Lookout Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution are hosting a remembrance ceremony September 18 in conjunction with National POW/MIA Recognition Day.

The ceremony will begin at noon at the 20th Century Veterans Memorial in North Platte. The ceremony will begin with a prayer and the laying of the wreath in remembrance of prisoners of war, missing in action soldiers, and all veterans.

The public is invited, and people are encouraged to wear red to symbolize the blood shed for our nation’s freedom.

POW flags will be offered for sale, and the group will travel to Fort McPherson after the ceremony for a short prayer service there.
