NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Wildfire smoke will remain aloft into Thursday leaving us with another hazy day of filtered sunshine but air quality should not be compromised. Winds will turn toward the south as high pressure drifts into Minnesota and afternoon highs are expected into the low to mid 80s east of Highway 83 with 70s to the east. Areas along and south of I-80 in the extreme southwest corner will enjoy a day in the upper 80s.

The week will end with warmer temperatures Friday through Sunday with mid to upper 80s, which will continue into next week. While this weather pattern provides several opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors, sorely need rain continues to be lacking. Saturday night and Sunday evening could see some isolated areas of thunder but moisture is lacking so coverage will be extremely limited if anything occurs at all.
