NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The North Platte Public Library is celebrating Constitution Week. This year’s focus is celebrating the 100th anniversary of women getting the right to vote. The library is working with the Daughters of the American Revolution. There is a display with books about women getting the right to vote plus informational books about the constitution.

The library is offering booklets for free; one booklet is the Constitution, and the other is an informational fact booklet on sections of the constitution and what it means.

“Up until 1920 women were not allowed to vote and it has really opened up a lot of different avenues for women in getting the right to vote. It led to women working outside of the home. It led to women running organizations and businesses. It was just a door way that really helped open things,” said Library Director, Cecelia Lawrence.

The display is set up throughout the month of September.
