NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Another hazy, gusty, and warm day filled the first day of our weekend on Saturday. Highs reached the upper 80s and the haze unfortunately was not any better when compared to Friday. Gusty winds are expected to continue through the evening hours and could make it up to 45 mph. Be sure to strap down those trashcans!! Do not worry, because these winds will die down just in time for church on Sunday morning.

Temperatures will likely top out in the mid-80s on Sunday in North Platte - but again, hazy conditions are expected to continue. While skies are expected to be mainly sunny through the day on Sunday, wildfire smoke across the area will likely keep skies milky instead of blue. The smoke will likely keep temperatures a degree or two cooler than they would otherwise be. Although we will still be hazy Sunday, the haze should be much better than what we saw on Friday and Saturday. Fingers crossed that our allergies get a break!

We are still very hazy out there... but the haze should thin out a little tomorrow.

Our next chance for rain likely doesn’t arrive until Sunday night and into early Monday morning with a 20% chance for showers and thunderstorms across the coverage area. Much of next week looks to be warm and dry as a ridge of high-pressure headlines the forecast. Temperatures are expected to continue to stay in the 80s with mainly sunny and dry weather expected.
